Pump! is an underwear company headquartered in Montreal, Canada.  Pump! Underwear combines sports, fun fashion trends and daring ideas into underwear. Pump! loves to keep their demographic open so that they can appeal to all audiences with their underwear. They don’t acknowledge one particular demographic for their underwear, they do generally display a look revolving around youth, fitness and sports.

I have mentioned in previous Pump! underwear reviews my position on the Pump! branding.  You can read it in the other reviews.  I have decided not to include it in future Pump! reviews.

Some history and benefits of Jockstrap

Jockstraps were created over 150 years ago by bicyclists.   The name of jockstrap comes from jockey-strap and Jock/Jockey means athlete in the Americas.  Also there is a slang usage of jock to mean penis and it does make sense that a jockstrap is a penis strap?

The jockstrap was designed by bicyclists to keep your boys in place and allow a lot of airflow in other areas that boxers, briefs cover up.  Jockstraps are typically used with a cup inserted in the pouch area to protect your penis and testes so that you can have protection and comfort.

Style:

This pair of Jockstrap is not very colorful like other Pump! underwear I have reviewed.  They call this pair the Ninja Jock, which means it should be like a Ninja that can hide when needed and be more conservative.  They do have other colors like red, green, blue, white, neon like colors that can spruce up the design.  As this is the first pair of Jockstrap I am reviewing and actually owning – I wanted to stay a little conservative rather than brighten up your eyes with neon green bulges that may go past my line.  I was debating to show off my rear end in the photos since I don’t think I have a good looking one, but it is the only way to show how the two straps work.

On a side note, the packaging of these jockstraps do give you some interesting warnings:  Hot product inside, Perfect for selfies, Not fragile at all, and recyclable packaging.  It is interesting that it says hot product inside and I do agree that it’s a hot product, but I think when we wear them on, it becomes even hotter.  The minor details does show the attention of detail to the product design.

Fit:

It’s hard to comment on fit with Jockstraps.  Jockstraps are designed to be supportive with very little coverage in other areas.  The waistband fits well with the two straps around the butt to support the butt.

Construction:

Like the other Pump! underwear I review, the construction is decent.  These are made with 78% Nylon, 22% Elastane.  Unlike other pump underwear I have reviewed, this pair does not have an extra fabric in the pouch area and only has a single layer of mesh fabric in the pouch area.

Our Views:

Jockstraps are great for working out and have comfort and support to your package.  You can also consider it as a tool to enhance your sex appeal to your partner.  Based on our site’s survey, I can see that jockstraps are not very common nowadays, but it could also be related to the reviews we have on this site is mostly boxer briefs.

If the jockstraps are good, they reduce chaffing and no bunching of the extra fabric from boxers to make things feel comfortable.  It has much less restrictions since there is less fabric to restrict you from going further without ripping up your underwear.

I have had conversations with other authors about jockstraps which made me curious to try one.   Pump! had a discount on jockstraps, so I decided to give it a try.  For some traditional jockstraps, there is no fabric in the pouch, but a hard shell to protect your package.  As things have evolved, we now have fabric in the pouch area and if you do need the protection you can put a cup into the jockstrap.

Weird feeling

When putting them on at first, I was trying to figure out where I put my thighs in to get it on correctly.  The feeling of wearing it does not come natural as my brain needed to adjust of the openness in the rear and no fabric between my butt and pants.  It does give you a bit of a commando feeling, but still have support in your package. One thing that makes me feel odd with jockstraps and I think a lot of men may agree with me is not having anything covering up my anus.  It some ways I feel that I am making my shorts/pants dirty even though I have came out of the shower and have the anus cleaned up.  Especially when I have done with #2 and no matter how much you wipe, it’s possible that there is some residue left.  Then having to wear a jockstrap makes it feel that my pair of shorts or jeans just got contaminated with unwanted waste.  I am sorry if you are reading this while eating and have been disguised by my words.  Also, if I sweat a lot down there, I don’t know if I will have sweat spots on my pants in the butt area like under arm sweat spots in shirts.

I believe that jockstraps is not the everyday underwear that men will wear throughout the day.  I believe they are designed for certain purposes and I agree that wearing them at the gym is a very good option as it supports your package very well and gives you a lot of air flow.  There is a lot of changes in men’s underwear and boxer briefs designed for sports which gives you the 4 way stretch to allow movements.  Jockstraps definitely give you less fabric to stretch when working out.

Straps

One thing I noticed is the side straps where they meet the pouch near the perennial area,  the straps tend to pull and causes the straps to not be flat and it could cause some rubbing in the sensitive area.   I have wore this for the day and didn’t have any issues with it myself.

Pouch

The pouch area does not have the extra fabric noted in the construction section above.  In the photos, you can see through the mesh holes and see the skin of my penis, which means you must shake off any residue after peeing so that it doesn’t go through the mesh holes and onto your pants.  The design is great which gives a lot more air to go through to cool down your package, but I did experience some heat buildup and when I touch the pouch area, I can feel the sweat from my package.  It has is more noticeable because other parts are very breathable and very cool except for the pouch. That is why I reduce the cooling points for this underwear.  It could be related to the Nylon material since Nylon is a fully synthetic material and is not very breathable.  The micro mesh holes do help a bit, but maybe the holes are not large enough.  Nylon is designed to repel water and has a low level of absorption which is why I can feel the sweat when touching the pouch.  If they did create larger mesh holes, I may not have the guts to review them.

Unintended times

As with all Pump! underwear, it feels better wearing them pointing down feel more natural.  I took some photos with my penis pointing up and I can feel that in any event of unintended boners or getting the morning wood, you may stick out or your penis will need to bend causing uncomfortable times.

Waistband

The waistband is like other PUMP! underwear where it expresses the Pump brand in full and this black color waistband is just aligned with the Ninja concept.

Final Words

Overall, they are quite comfortable and they do need a little time to get use to.  But once you are use to them, they are quite comfy.  I still have concerns getting my pants during after doing #2, which makes me think that I wouldn’t object wearing these for it’s purpose – for sports/gym, but I wouldn’t wear them as an everyday underwear.

One thing I can say is that there is some conveniences wearing these because if I never had to urgent need to do #2, I can possibility do it without having to pull down the jockstrap.  I know some others can do other activities without pulling them down, but that is as far as I will go in my review.

Verdict:

Will I buy another one?  Yes – may not load up my collection, but maybe a few more for the gym.

The photo where your guy is off to the right (10/15)… That is pretty much exactly how I lay in most briefs – except left.

You’re the bossman! Looked pretty normal to me. Sometimes that kind of mesh netting changes the way things look.

Ya. The way you have grouped them now makes sense. Shows how the fabric responds to all states…where is strains and it’s escape routes. haha. I’m excited to try my new Pump unders soon. I’ll post something.
