The Night Shift combines style, function and a silky Nylon/Poly blend that keeps you comfy and dry for those sultry nights when expectations run high.
They offer 8 different colors and patterns for the night shift collection. The patterns are very toned down as this is the night shift collection. Today we are reviewing the 50 shades which reminds me of the story/movie – 50 shades of gray. Brings on that type of mood during the evening night.
Overall design of the boxer brief is similar to other collections. The black waistband comes with the collection name and 2UNDR all around. This time the design is very subtle and you can barely see it. It also comes with a 2UNDR patch right in the middle, to remind you that you are wearing the brand. It follows the brand’s tradition with a Joey pouch tab on the left side of the waistband. The fly the same black color layer to protect your package. There is also another piece of fabric to cover up the stitch together with the waistband.
Again, the night shift collection is very conservative in design and colors, but for a pair of boxers designed for the night, I don’t think it needs to be in bright colors.
One thing I would like to make note of is the packaging of the underwear. 2UNDR has designed the boxes to match the color and pattern of the underwear. You can see the box has some parts of orange to tell you that this pair is orange. I really like how they did this and it shows the attention of detail.
Fitted. The night shift collection only comes in 6″ boxer briefs and the just slip and does not give you any weird fitting issues. The Joey pouch is a bit different from other collections from 2UNDR. More on the pouch in the out views section.
2UNDR uses a flatlock stitching and construction seams that are purposely placed to avoid potential rub zones for a seamless look and feel. The 35mm waistband uses the highest quality yarn which is roll-resistant and is made with 52% Nylon, 28% Polyester and 20% Spandex The Joey Pouch uses a mesh fabric is actually a thermal reduction fabric that features a hydrophobic membrane that quickly disperses sweat. They have used a combination of 60% Silky Micro Nylon, 30% Polyester, 10% Elastane.
This pair of 2UNDR is part of the Night Shift Collection which uses a combination of Nylon, Polyster and Elastane fabric. It is an interesting combination of materials since Nylon is a great because of the soft feel and it keeps the you dry. However, traveling in hot and humid conditions, Nylon may not perform as well as other materials. I think that is where the Polyester blend comes in play. Since Polyster is great with moisture-wicking properties that can help moisture leave the underwear and keep you dry and comfortable.
The waistband is made with an ultra soft micro-nylon material which is sonic welded, so that there is no need to stitch the waistband together. This method gives a seamless fit and feel and less rubbing against the skin.
The Joey Pouch is constructed to support your boys. One thing special about this pair in comparison to other 2UNDR underwear is the Joey Pouch. All other collections follow the same Joey Pouch design, but this pair is totally different. The design of this pouch is an large oval shaped black hole. 2UNDR did say that these are laser cut which simplifies the construction. There is no need for the piping around the hole which makes it softer. Other patterns/colors would be different color oval hole. This design feels like there is less support for your package and less lifting. This makes a lot of sense since this is design for the night and you should be relaxing yourself and enjoying the evening. You don’t need to lifting of your sack as much. Comfort is the key when it comes to this collection. Definitely, I feel less support when you compare these to other 2UNDR underwear, but with that being said, it does stop this collection from doing it’s intended job. I did feel that it took more time and effort to put this pair of boxer briefs on. Since you had to aim your package to fit into the oval shaped pouch. I noticed that I had to play around the pouch to get my package into the pouch properly. The open fly helped since I put my hand into the fly and adjusted from there. Overall the pouch lets your sack sit over the bottom of the pouch and comfortably spend the remainder of the night.
The legs did roll up a little, but as many did not cause any discomfort. A little adjustments after going to the washroom is enough to keep you feeling great all day.
I wore these in the evening and went to bed with them. Overall, I have no complains with them and did enjoy wearing them at night. The only question is, will you purposely wear another pair of underwear for the evening? A lot of men don’t care much about what they wear underneath and now having to wear another pair of underwear at night may not work. For the guys who love underwear, I think you will definitely change into these so that you can experience the best of each scenario.
Always wash your whites and darks separately, wash with cold to warm water, not hot. Machine wash on the delicate cycle.
2UNDR says the best is to air dry in the shade. If you are in a rush, I’ll suggest going out and buying a few more pairs :). Seriously, tumble dry on the cool to warm fluffing cycle and remove immediately after.
Some comment mistakes in washing premium underwear (copied from 2UNDR site):
- HIGH HEAT: Baking (literally) your underwear at super high temperatures causes the elastic and fabric to degrade at a much faster rate
- DIRECT SUNLIGHT: Sunlight, as good as it is, is a major contributing factor to colors fading and to the degradation of the elastic and fabric
- FABRIC SOFTENER & BLEACH: While these were great on your old tighty-whities, modern materials and fabrics do not need them to maintain that silky smooth feel
- OVERAGGRESSIVE WASHING: Your time is valuable, we get that. But tossing your delicates (yes, we used that word) in with your jeans, towels and other rough fabrics can reduce the lifespan of your underwear. And washing on too harsh of a wash cycle can cause lint pills to develop.
Will I buy again? Maybe. I’m not sure if I will always change into these at night.
